A few weeks ago I spent some amazing hours on a horse trek trough the dunes, beaches and the stunning countryside of Essaouiras coastline with Mohamed, the owner of "Ranch de Diabat." I told him about my previous travels and work with horses all around the world and eventually he offered me to accompany him on his next multi-day trail ride . So we spent the last couple of days camping with the horses in the hills of the High Atlas, next to beautiful lonely beaches and little Berber villages, enjoyed traditional meals around the campfire and under millions of stars and got woken up by the singing of hundreds of birds, the screaming of donkeys and the smell of brewing moroccan mint tea. In line with this topic I finally finished the blog post about "Volunteering on a japanese horse ranch" which you can find down below. Passend zum Thema habe ich endlich den Blogartikel über meine Zeit als "Voluntär auf einer japanischen Pferderanch" fertiggestellt, welchen du unten findest. ⬇⬇⬇ https://horseshoe-travel.com/2018/04/19/als-volontaer-in-einem-japanischen-reitstall/ #travel #travelwithdogs #trailride #camping #naturecamping #adventurelife #outsideisfree #vanlife #neverstopexploring #roadtrip #solotravel #girlstravel #essaouira #morocco #africa
Say hello to Maya! Found her next to my car this morning, brought her right to the vet and now I'm thinking of what to do with her. For Kalil, the kitten I found in Essaouira, I found a great place at a private shelter, but they are full now. Hope and Szaha, my two gourgeous puppys, both died, one of distemper and one cause of Parvo because I was stupid enough to leave them with the staff in the Marrakesh shelter and didn't really took a look around. The shelter is hopelessly overcrowded and full of diseases. It broke my heart to lose them without saying goodbye, I had so many plans for and with them but it just shouldn't be. But I definitely learnt from that. It makes me so angry everyday I see the horrible situation of the moroccan street animals. The only solution would be a nationwide castration program for all the dogs and cats here and daily feeding programs. Now I'm sitting here with another baby animal, thinking of what to do and how to finance all the costs for vet, food and stuff. I never felt so needed before in a country I travelled to and I wish I could do more. Now I can only try to improve the animals lives I find randomly on the streets and getting angry about all that goes wrong in this country. Has anyone made GOOD experiences with shelters or foster homes in or around Agadir? #animalwelfare #travel #roadtrip #travelwithdogs #campingwithdogs #savethestreetanimals #kitten #animalshelter #animalsanctuary #girlstravel #tinyhomeonwheels #agadir #morocco #africa
Morocco, not a place for vegetarian olive-haters like me. 😂😂🌍 . Check out my new blog post about solo-travelling and the last weeks in Morocco. Thanks for all of the lovely congratulations, I had an absolutely memorable birthday. My mother arrived in Marrakesh on Monday and we had some nice days, exploring the Medina, walking the pup and enjoying the sun. For god's sake we decided to visit my puppies in the shelter and found them in a horrible condition. We brought them directly to the animal clinic where they'll stay for two weeks. 🐶🐶❤ After an amazing birthday morning at Lake Lalla Takerkoust we spent the night in the freezing, star-bright Agafay desert where we enjoyed nice camel rides and delicious Tajine before moving on to the Atlas mountains for trekking around Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain of North Africa. #travel #bestmother #selforganizedtrip #roadtrip #campingwithdogs #travelwithpets #don'tleavethemathome #camping #girltravels #travelstagram #birthdayweekend #homeonwheels #birthdaytravel #skodafabia #naturecamping #desertcamping #stargazing #agafay #morocco #northafrica
When you travel you're always a bit prejudiced about the places you go. You can't avoid that because everyone associates something with a place, thanks to Lonely Planet, the internet and stories of friends. I'm very bifid about Fèz. Yesterday evening after eight hours in the city I was sure that I don't like Fèz. I'm shocked about the current situation in the second largest Moroccan city. I don't talk about the beggars who surrounded me as soon as I stopped at the roadside, the traffic light or even at an official parking place. I don't talk about the weird feeling you get when you walk through the confusing little passageways of the Medina and some crazy folks running behind you, screaming and trying to pet your dog or when you feel a hand on your backpack. I don't talk about the desperate vendors in the Medina who all, trust me all, try to hoax you in a way I haven't even experienced it in the big Asian cities like Bangkok, Shanghai or Tokio. I talk about the harrowing poverty in and outside the Medina. I've seen a lot of poverty during my journeys through Asia and Africa. But I've never seen so much desperation on one place. Morocco is trying to get more attractive for tourists by building new hotels, improving the street conditions, poisoning the street dogs and cats and incorporating new tourists guides. I met two boys, fifteen and eighteen years old, who helped me to find the way back to my car when I was lost in the Medina. They were really poor and earned their money with guiding tourists. Unofficial of course. They talked very honest and open about their lives. On the way back to my car we run straight into a police control and they caught one of the guys. He's in jail now because he helped me to find the way and invited me to some tee. That's how the Moroccan state tries to make the country more attractive and save for tourists by imprisoning teens who can't afford school. Tomorrow morning I'll head on to Marrakech to bring the puppies into their new home. I already miss them.. 🐶🐶❤ #travel #travelwithdogs #camping #campingwithdogs #travelwithpets #natureishome #homeonfourwheels #don'tleavethemathome #roadtrip #skodafabia #fez #morocco #africa
Puppy alarm! I'm currently staying with a lovely Moroccan family in a little mountain village. When I went on a walk with Gismo yesterday morning I found four female puppies, two bigger one's (4-5 weeks old) and two tiny one's (6-7 days old). They were abandoned on the street and all in a very bad condition. Most of the Moroccan people don't care about the thousands of wild dogs and cats on the streets and of course still less about the puppies and kittens that have no chance to survive without a mother. I took the two bigger one's to a veterinary in Berkane, they got a wormer, a nice wash in the family's garden and a spot on against ticks and flees. I gave them the names "Hope" and "Szaha" (it's arabic and means "luck" and of course it's written differently in arabic). Certainly I didn't put them back on the road afterwards instead I gave them milk with water, some mild meat and made a bed for them in the car. I couldn't risk to take the very small puppies to the vet together with Hope and Szaha because they were obviously very sick and highly infectious. One of them died during the night and the other one got put down by the vet, when I brought her there this morning. But at least I was able to save the lifes of Hope and Szaha. I'll bring them to Marrakesch where a german woman has a animal sanctuary. It's a very long way especially with three dogs in the car and on Moroccan streets but we'll make it. The first stop is Fès tomorrow. I absolutely don't care about my originally travel plan. The only thing that matters to me is that the two little one's are alright. At the moment they're sleeping on my lap and I know that it was the right decision to save them and honestly, they already mean the world to me. The biggest thanks goes to my fantastic host family. It think they'll never forget the crazy german girl, who camped in their garden and left the village with three instead of one dog.. 🐶🐶🐶 #travel #travelwithdogs #travelwithpets #animalwelfare #animalsanctuary #savethestreetdogs #camping #girltravels #campingwithdogs #roadtrip #skodafabia #morocco #africa
We spent the night infront of the beautiful cafe "El Boustane" in the little village Beni Chiker near Nador. This is one of the most extraordinary places I've ever seen in my life. The cafe owner Abdeslam has build a museum with his collection of antique objects from all over the world, a restaurant with delicious food and a little animal park at the same time. Many animals like birds, chickens, turkeys, chipmunks, rabbits, fishes, turtles (like the little guy in the video) and more found a home here. The only animal we had a little discussion about was the lonely monkey Tikka, who obviously wasn't happy with her situation in a cage. After a long beach walk in Saidia, the most eastern point of Morocco only a few kilometres from Algeria, we could even look over the border, we'll move on to Zegzel this afternoon. #travel #travelwithdogs #camping #campingwithdogs #roadtrip #nature #sleepinthecar #offthepath #travelwithpets #skodafabia #travellife #benichiker #nador #saidia #morocco #africa
We got stuck in the middle of the beautiful Al Hoceima national park on the road yesterday. When I realized that we won't reach the top of the hill I tried to drive backwarts just to end up in a graben in a dangerous angle. After a little nervous breakdown I started searching for help. The problem was just that a national park isn't a heavily populated place. After some hours of asking people and waiting for someone to understand the problem, a tractor, a four wheel car and twelve Moroccan men pushed and pulled Fabienne out of the ditch. Now we can't leave the national park because the roads're too muddy. Life is just showing again that you can plan a trip but at the end everything comes different anyway. Hopefully the night's going to be dry so that we can move on to Zegzel tomorrow. But at least Gismo seems to be on the way to recovery (thanks to Bactisel HK and Olewo, make sure that you don't forget the two of them while travelling with a dog!) #travel #justsometravellerthings #travelwithdogs #campingwithdogs #roadtrip #stuckedcar #skodafabia #camping #sleepinthecar #adventureislife #campingwithpets #offroadcar #ornot #alhoceima #morocco #africa

Today on my second day in Morocco I spent a lot of time at the beach and met some nice local families who shared their stories and language with me. I already forgot most of the arabic words they teached me but I'm trying to learn.. 🐶🌞🌊 Made it to Morocco yesterday after some great days at the east and south cost of Spain. In Algeciras I just had to follow the line of adventurous pensioners (mainly dutch and french) in their camper vans and ended up in the well known ticket shop of Carlos. Everyone seems to buy the ferry tickets at Carlos shop. Next morning we took the ferry from Algeciras to Ceuta. When we arrived I noticed that Gismo got really sick on the ferry (I had to leave him inside the car) and had just vomited and pooped all over the mattress, pillows and blankets in the car. What a great start! Then we spent more then two hours at the border where everything works really slowly and after a while I just locked myself in the car to avoid beggary and conversations that always ended up with a demand for money (welcome to Africa!) After crossing the border a police man explained that the office of car insurance seems to be closed over the weekend. But after one hour of seeking I found another office in Tetuoan, by the way a good place to start a Morocco trip cause you can buy everything there like cheap fuel, international food and a sim card. This probably applys to most of the citys here.. 😃😃 Currently we're at a camping place in Martil and I was able to wash all the dirty stuff (of course by hand) but I had to throw a lot of things away. Gismo seems to be sick, he still has a really bad diarrhoea and after swimming in the great wide ocean he started to vomit white foam. Furthermore he doesn't eat his dried food and favourite snacks. I hope he's just tired of the long travel and stress on the ferry. If anyone knows a good vet in north Morocco I would be very grateful for the advise! #travel #travelwithdogs #roadtrip #solotravel #skodafabia #beachlife #travelstagram #camping #campingwithdogs #naturecamping #exhausted #lookingforadvise #morocco #africa
